Center for Research in Nursing (CIEnf)

The Center for Research in Nursing (CIEnf) is a research unit of the Nursing School of the University of Minho.

The Center for Research in Nursing conducts research and evaluations of high-quality evidence about policies and practices relevant for nursing care.

The main goals of the CIEnf is to produce relevant and appropriate research of health services for health professionals that contributes to improving the quality and effectiveness of nursing in its different dimensions: social, cultural, economic, national/international and political.

 

Center for Research in Nursing

The translation, exchange, and valorization of the scientific and technological knowledge of ESE-UMinho are carried out through the development of solutions for the provision of services to the community based on the best evidence available, having as a platform its subunit Center for Research in Nursing - University do Minho (CIEnf-UMinho).

 

The Nursing Research Center is a permanent structure of scientific research, open to contributions from other disciplines, integrated with the Nursing School of the University of Minho, which aims to promote and develop research in the field of Nursing.

One of the challenges of nursing, as a discipline and profession, is the need to promote the development of nursing research projects, as a result of the scientific activity of its teachers. The Center for Research in Nursing aims to contribute to professional affirmation through the construction of disciplinary knowledge that guarantees the quality of nursing care. The CIEnf's mission is to develop scientific research in the field of Health Sciences and in particular in Nursing.

 

The main goals of CIEnf are:

a) To promote research activities in the field of nursing knowledge and other areas that promote interdisciplinary;

b) To encourage the continuous training of its researchers by promoting their scientific activity;

(c) To encourage scientific exchange and cooperation with other research structures;

(d) To develop research projects related to the needs of the community resulting from partnerships with other Community institutions;

(e) To support the dissemination of research results;

f) To ensure the publication of a scientific journal.

 

The CIEnf management board:

- Director;

- Scientific Commission;

- Administrative Commission;

- Permanent External Scientific Advisory Commission.

 

The CIEnf is organized by research areas:

- Lifelong nursing care, which main goal is to study the human responses resulting from the health/illness transition processes as well as the therapeutic responses resulting from nurses' decision making;

- Health, environment and human development which main goal is to study the determinants of human development as well as the mechanisms for promoting health and well-being;

- Organizations, education, and training in nursing which main goal is to study the policies and practices of health and education organizations.
